Can't believe how fast the MTC experience has been. I only have two more P-Day's until I leave for the Philippines, absolutely crazy. I hope everyone is doing good, I want to hear from all of you at least once.
[ Friday, October 25, 2019 - Day 10 ]
It's finally laundry day! I can't believe im actually excited for that haha. Not much happened other than I got my Polio shot today. The day also went by way too fast. It was really great to talk to my parents for the first time in a bit.
[ Saturday, October 26, 2019 - Day 11 ]
Unfortunately once again, not much happened. Practiced shooting some hoops, and thought I lost my missionary badge but eventually found it magnetically stuck to the bottom of the top bunk haha.
[ Sunday, October 27, 2019 - Day 12 ]
Got the first snowfall of the year, I'm gonna enjoy it because I won't be able to see it for a while. My companion's got called as music leaders and one of the Brother Harper (one of the presidents of the MTC) told me that he has an assignment for me and that he will let me know soon, so i'm excited for that.
Our district went and tried out choir (I know, I know) but honestly it was fun. Me and the district had some fun with the panorama mode on my camera, duplicating Elder Watt. While researching for good scripture, I came across Matthew 24: 9-12.
"9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."
[ Monday, October 28, 2019 - Day 13 ]
We had our first TRC today and I think it went pretty well. It was nerve racking having a conversation and teaching a lesson to a complete stranger in Tagalog. I found out today that instead of stopping in Hong Kong, we might be stopping in Korea. So that's exciting, I think it's because of the riots that are happening in Hong Kong but that's just my theory.
In class, we were told that we have to memorize about 1500 to 2500 Tagalog words in the next four weeks. Kind of crazy but is it impossible? No.
[ Tuesday, October 29, 2019 - Day 14 ]
So I got into Family History research. It's actually really awesome, I was able to download the Family History app and log into my account. There's a feature that's in the app that scans for who you are related to in the area so naturally me and our district scanned to see if any of us are related in some way and it turns out that me and one of the Sisters in the district are 11th cousins, I find Family History so fascinating.
I got a package from my parents and I was so happy! I got some snacks and more gym clothes, it was very much appreciated. It's pretty cold up here, like the type of cold that bites. We had a devotional tonight and it was amazing (except for one part), Elder W. Mark Bassett from the 70 came to talk and our district managed to get front row seats. Unfortunately one of the Elders had a seizure during the devotional, it was honestly terrifying, hearing panic and screaming words of help behind you. Paramedics took him out and fortunately he is okay, the devotional stopped and we had a quiet moment.
[ Wednesday, October 30, 2019 - Day 15 ]
It was 14 degrees today and our service project for today got cancelled, some Elders got to it before us so we used the time we had to clean our own residence. Also I watched Johnny Lingo for the first time cause my companionions kept talking about it. The film is actually not bad for being from the 1960's.
This explains what the MTC is like: "The days are long but the weeks are short." - Elder Watt.
[ Thursday, October 31, 2019 - Day 16 ]
Happy Halloween!! Today was pretty fun, everyone was passing out candy. We were all making jokes about how we are all dressing up as missionaries for Halloween. Also kind of funny, Elders had spiderman masks on, i'm not sure how they got those but ya haha. Before we went to bed, people were Trick or Treating in our residence. Elders were going up to doors with pillow cases and asking for candy. Definitely wasn't expecting that.
[ Closing ]
